JOurney of India – A rerun on Hyderabad

– Was a greater , larger, more promising city than I had expected. The city is not too crowded nor quiet. It is by far the most O.K. city I have ever seen 😛 . I am not going to go dig deep its pro and cons but a few things did touched me and few rubbed me. I loved the point that availability of resources, from regular grocery to extreme IT, was just a ride away. Sports is highly regarded in the area I was living. I could easily see numerous Lawn-tennis grounds, cricket grounds, one in every colony. They were a few good restaurants and food joints and yeah The HYderabadi Biryani was good. However  the street food is hereded with South Indian foods (Idli Sambhar and Vada). There is a smell of fermentation in the air that annoyed me a lot.

Means of transport – Rickshaws and buses. But beware you that do not jump into any rickshaw you find. Ask them always to zero the meter and pay your fare according to the meter. Threaten them, warn them, manipulate or do whatever you do but do not travel on fixed rates they say. The tip i tell you would save you a lot of bucks. Buses were good, clean and weren’t congested. I pretty much liked traveling in them. Took one of them to the GVK1 mall ( which was huge and the the food court was awesome) . Didn’t have enough time to roam about the heritage points but overall the citylife was good.

I really would make a confession about the statement in my last blog on the Indian Railways. Both the trains, Falaknuma and East Coast were spot-on and the journey was also very comfortable. Both the trains took just the time they promised. I was however surprised that there was no Pantry Car in the East Coast Express which is rather a long journey train. I missed my regular Train Tea.

Also a revelation I had while I was on my journey. If you ever wish to summarize the visit of a city, just observe the railway station carefully. It is indeed the synopsis of the city.

Journey of India – Hyderabad

I guess it was my friend Rohit’s words that just turned to reality. Our family is shifting to Hyderabad this week. The city as I know uptil now (as per hearsay) is a beautiful city and an important heritage point. Its a booming technological center of India and a city of lots of malls and shopping-plexes. The city is known worldwide fr the Hyderabadi Biryani, which I might get my hands on as well.

What can i say about Hyderabad ? Hmm.. It ends with the letters ‘-abad’, indicating a Mughal prominence in its earlier times and a significant work by a certain Lord Hyder in its shaping. Also it must surely be a big educational hub as many of friends belong to this city. Since it is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, infrastructure shall by no doubt be good. People will be soft spoken, kind and considerate as my friends from AP are quite quiet and nice. I have also heard about the Snowpark there which would be a fun place to be and I am damn going there for sure !!

I am leaving for Hyderabad on 26th of Jan during the Kshitij fest via Falaknuma Express. Was surprised to see that just few trains were connecting KGP to Hyderabad contrary to the huge demand or the bulk of the flow that travels in between the two places. Its a 24 hour (maybe + 2 to 4 hours) journey by train taking into account the tradition of Indian railways. The last station would be Secundrabad, which is a part of hyderabad i guess and from there, it is a half an hour journey to my new home somewhere in diamond point.

I would be telling more about my experience once I visit the place and palaces. Hoping to have a great experience, i put my keyboard down. 🙂
